On 25 February, Access To Industry’s weekly art therapy group for young people, Celebrate Art, run in partnership with Fruitmarket, are doing a 5k relay walk around Jyll Bradley’s Pardes installation in the Fruitmarket Warehouse. The event is in celebration of Purple Friday, an annual event marking the last Friday of LGBT History Month.
The participants on the relay will carry flags that they have made, which depict what they celebrate about themselves. One of our Celebrate Art young people will also be live sketching the event on the day!
The Celebrate Art group provides a weekly creative therapy session for our EdinMe Service young people with mental health issues. It brings together experts in the artistic field, in conjunction with a trauma-informed caseworker from Access to Industry, combining art therapy and informed service from both sides.
Purple Friday is an annual fundraising day to raise funds for LGBT Youth Scotland’s community work. This year they are inviting people to take part in ‘Pass The Torch Relay’ – a collective challenge to walk the outline of Scotland in one day and raise £20,000. All events held cover a minimum of 5k on the day and raise £50 as an individual or £350 as a team.
