Our Certificate Ceremony 2024 took place today, Wednesday 26 June, again in the grand surrounds of our partner and neighbour St Cecilia’s Hall. It brought together a celebratory crowd to recognise the students from across our various courses, classes and groups who have achieved this year.
For our 23/24 year, we awarded 242 certificates to 184 students (this includes students awarded under more than one category). The courses awarded were: Access Data; Digital Media; Access Photography; Access Beauty; Creative Writing; as well as our University of Edinburgh courses, City of Edinburgh Council Multiply-funded Counting on Success, and our various Community College classes.
We were also thrilled to award Volunteer of the Year to Jamie Scanlon; Partner of the Year to Scottish Prison Service HMP & YOI Polmont; and a special Access to Industry Lifetime Achievement Award to John Leach.
Finally, we were honoured to have three student speakers on the day, who delivered empowering and emotive speeches about their personal journeys and how Access to Industry has supported them. It was a privilege to hear them share their positive journey with a large audience.
Adele Hill and Sally McGreevy, Access to Industry’s Co-Chief Executives, said:
‘What a celebratory day our Certificate Ceremony 2024 was! We were so happy to be awarding our amazing Students’ achievements, again in the beautiful historic surrounds of our valued partners, St Cecilia’s Hall. It’s been a very special year for us, in that it saw us awarded Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) Accreditation for our Community College in Edinburgh’s Cowgate. This has been of huge benefit to our Students and afforded us direct delivery of accredited qualifications. We’re so proud of how hard our Students, Tutors, and Caseworkers alike have worked this year to get the training, qualifications and support to really change lives for the better. Congratulations to every single one of you.‘
