PAGE part of Art Walk Projects’ Spring Cluster event

We’re delighted that our PAGE ‘Wellbeing Through Photography‘ group will be part of Art Walk Projects’ Spring Cluster series of performances, installations and events celebrating their winter projects.

Over the season, the ‘Wellbeing Through Photography’ students have worked with Art Walk Projects, facilitated by artist Zoe Hamill, to learn about medicinal plants and their uses in photography, working towards the creation of a seed sharing library in Portobello.

During a series of photo-arts workshops, the participants experimented with camera-less photography and plant-based developing of film (using locally-foraged plants), alongside learning about medicinal plant ecologies and remedy making.

The seed sharing library element came from the group’s wish to create educational materials for the schools and residents of Portobello, to help them understand and appreciate the wealth of plants around them and their uses.

On Saturday 14 March (2pm-3:30pm) they’ll present Remedy – a seed project and small publication launch as part of Spring Cluster. The event will start from Portobello Library, where you can learn more about the new Portobello Seed Share, and view some of the images created by the group, alongside the accompanying small publication.

There will also be a cyanotype demonstration from artist and facilitator Zoe Hamill. This will be followed by a walk led by Herbal Scotland, to understand more about some of the medicinal plants growing in the coastal edgelands at Seafield.

Tickets available here. And read about all the Spring Cluster events here.
