SMART on the Go!

With the milder weather finally here (*jinxes it*), our Tuesday SMART Recovery Meeting has temporarily relocated from Dalkeith Welfare Hall to the outdoors, under the guise of ‘SMART on the Go’.

Taking inspiration from our regional SMART coordinator, Kelly, who started taking her meetings out and about, for the coming weeks we will be having our weekly meeting outdoors and doing our check-ins whilst we are walking.

The structure is flexible – we check-in with each other, how we have been over the past week, and go over any practical tools. The meeting aims to help support recovery and build and maintain on motivation, whilst helping those in recovery cope with urges; manage thoughts, feelings and behaviours; and live a more balanced life.

For our first outdoor meeting we went to Dalkeith Country Park (pictured below), where we enjoyed the warm, sunny weather whilst connecting in a relaxed setting. We referred to the handily portable SMART Recovery User Guide (pictured above), which contains practical, helpful tools and techniques that can be used in everyday life, wherever you are.

The group meets at 2:30pm at a pre-decided outdoor location. More details here, or get in touch.
