Our popular Gardening Group re-starts!

We’re pleased to announce that our popular Gardening Group will return for 2024 – starting on Monday 6 May – again taking over the idyllic courtyard space (pictured) at The Museum of Edinburgh (142-146 Canongate).

Last year we planted flowers and edibles – including an abundant herb garden of chives, rosemary and thyme – so we’re keen to be back to see to what has survived, and to grow new plants, flowers and things to eat.

One key thing that the group will be planting is Rock Rose – a low-maintenance flowering shrub native to the Mediterranean – to create part of a corridor for locally rare butterfly, Northern Brown Argus, which is on the UK’s Biodiversity Action Plan list.

The group will run throughout the summer, and into autumn. If you’re interested in joining, ask your Caseworker for details, or contact Paul on paulrankeillor@accesstoindustry.co.uk. Poster below:

We’re also excited to announce that plans are afoot for a Mid and East Lothian Gardening Group. Our team have been busy getting the garden at Welfare Hall in shape ready for a group of students to get planting and growing. More details on dates and times coming soon.
