Creative Writing

Our Creative Writing course aims to spark participants’ imagination and creativity. It teaches a range of creative writing skills and helps participants to express themselves in a number of different ways, such as through poems, stories or letters. Students learn how to write narrative stories in a chosen genre and how to describe events from varied points of view.

Overall, the course helps participants improve their communication skills and boosts their confidence in how they express themselves. Students can also achieve creative writing qualifications at various levels.

The course is delivered in partnership with Edinburgh College and is designed for unemployed students from disadvantaged backgrounds who may require support to maintain a college place. It offers progression on to a range of related courses at the College.

Who

Participants must be of working age and not currently in education or employment. They must also meet other specific entry requirements (contact us for details).

When

Classes run weekly throughout the year.

Why

Overall, the course helps participants improve their writing skills and boosts their confidence in how they express themselves. Participants can also achieve SQA units in Creative Writing at SCQF level 3, 4 or 5.

The course is delivered at 156 Cowgate, in Edinburgh, and in venues throughout Mid- and East Lothian.
