Edinburgh International Book Festival – pics of our live reading!

We’re so proud of our Cowgate Creative Writing Group, who, on the evening of Wednesday 21 August, took to the stage of the Edinburgh International Book Festival to read their work in front of a live audience.

Invited to respond to the 2025 Festival theme of ‘Together We Repair’, the writers read a selection of new work which explored how writing as a group helped to repair them. This was a personal and emotive theme to explore – not without some nerves! – and we couldn’t be more impressed with the inspiring showcase they put together.

Introduced by our very own Helen Murray – who coordinates the Cowgate Creative Writing Group – the event featured 16 readings of work by writers Gillian Lambie; Ashley Mowat; Vladimir Iustus; Tommy Cameron; Liz; Christopher Panks; Steven McLaren; Tony Sutton; and Scott Morrison.

Mark Philips, Service Manager, says:
“Reflecting on our Access to Industry students’ appearance at Edinburgh International Book Festival last week, I feel very proud of all of our contributing students, and of Helen Murray for her leadership of the group. It was a great event with a supportive, appreciative audience. Thanks also to Jodie and Noelle for the invite and the support – we loved the experience!”
