New Learning Hub and Office for Mid & East service!

We are thrilled to announce that after ten years of outreach in Mid and East Lothian, working with adults in recovery from substance use or with current or past involvement with criminal justice, we now have a local office and established classroom space.

With the service supporting people looking to progress into education, training and employment, the new classroom space – Hardengreen Learning Hub (pictured) – allows us to offer on-site classes in Employability Award, Local Investigations, CSCS and Driving Theory, plus more to come in the future.

The service will also continue to provide an outreach offering and have a presence within various Recovery Cafe’s and other local projects, aiming to reach and support as many people as possible in the community who need it.

Clair Dickson, our Mid and East Lothian Recovery Service Manager, says:
Having a local office will allow us to grow our identity as a service – we will expand our learning provisions and work with local partners to provide even more opportunities for people to develop skills and gain qualifications. We hope to build on our education offering and become a satellite site to Access to Industry’s Edinburgh SQA Centre. We also hope to build on our recovery support and work with people from Midlothian who are moving towards completing residential rehab to help them build local connections and routine.

Having a base will allow our staff to work more closely together and develop new ideas for training and group work. Many of our team co-work certain clients depending on the stage of their journey and having a place to discuss the support and progression pathways will be of benefit to both clients and staff. Our partner organisations, Health in Mind and Children 1st, are also based within the unit – this will facilitate co-working and create a stronger referral pathway between services. We’re so excited for the future growth of this key service.”
