We are excited to announce that our EdinMe service for young people will soon add a weekly walking group to its programme, starting on Friday 2 June and set to run for an initial four week block.
The Summer Wellbeing Walking Group will visit interesting walk locations in and around Edinburgh each week for the purpose of improving young people’s mental health and wellbeing. The locations will be decided on with input from the young people. Lunch will be provided.
The group aims to create a safe space, free of judgement, where young people can discuss positive personal goals, whilst working on their confidence and relationship building, and seeing parts of the city that might be new to them. Participating young people will gain an Improving Wellbeing SCQF 3 qualification certificate upon completing the block.
When a young person is referred, they will become an EdinMe client. This means that they will not only benefit from the walking group, but from the wider support that EdinMe offers in terms of mental health and wellbeing, employability and education throughout and beyond the walking group.
EdinMe is a Service for young people aged 16-21 (up to 25 in care experienced) with emerging and entrenched mental health issues impacting their progression towards sustained education and/or employment. We recognise the importance of a holistic approach in helping young people achieve their goals.
The Summer Wellbeing Walking Group will run 2-23 June, 12-3pm. Various locations around Edinburgh.
