See our Creative Writing Group at Edinburgh International Book Festival!

Our Cowgate Creative Writing Group have been invited to present their work at this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival. They’ve been challenged to respond to the 2025 Festival theme of ‘Together We Repair’ – exploring how writing as a group has helped to repair and restore them.

In recent weeks they have been curating and working on new pieces that will then be presented to a live audience on Wednesday 20 August (7:15pm, Venue B). We can reveal that within the showcase there will be an exclusive short story and a selection of new poetry.

Holistic and therapeutic in its approach, our Creative Writing course was set up with the aim of reducing isolation and building on social skills – working alongside peers to practice self-expression in a supportive environment.

Championing ‘free writing’, our students are encouraged to write in a way that they feel most comfortable, whether prose, poetry, letters, postcard-style, narrative, dialogue… you name it! Do come and hear the fruits of their work at this one-off special event.

This is a ‘Pay What You Can’ event. Full details and booking here.
