As we enter 2026, we wanted to highlight our Moving Forward for Parents service and the support it provides, at what can be a hard time of year.

Aiming to help parents overcome the challenges that they might be facing, Moving Forward for Parents is a flexible service built around individual needs and goals, offering 1:1 support with a designated caseworker.

The service focuses on providing guidance, practical knowledge and support into specialist provisions in areas including: Personal Development; Health and Wellbeing; Financial Planning; Welfare Rights and Benefits Advice; Childcare Information; Housing Advice; Education and Training; and Employability.

In practical terms, some of the support and outcomes we can provide include:

• Funds to cover the cost of a college course
• Temporary childcare for getting back into employment
• A cheaper gym membership with an Edinburgh Leisure card
• Access to various groups run by Access to Industry

The referral criteria and the schools we work with are listed on the Moving Forward for Parents webpage here, but we can also support parents who aren’t associated with the schools but who live within their catchment areas.
