We’re excited to announce that our Midlothian Cooking Group returns next week in a revamped format. The ‘Food for Life‘ group will not only teach participants how to prepare budget-friendly, simple and nourishing meals, but it will also explore the nutrients in each dish and what they can do for the mind and body.
Participants will be taught about what foods and dishes can support things like energy, concentration, mood and sleep, to help them gain a clearer understanding of how everyday foods can support their health and wellbeing.
The group will meet each Monday afternoon (12:30pm-2:30pm) in Mayfield and Easthouses Parish Church, where they’ll pick a recipe, set a budget and get the ingredients, before cooking together and then sitting down to share the meal.
The sessions help build on basic key life skills (planning; shopping; budgeting; cooking; wellbeing), and also alleviate loneliness, by bringing people together once a week in a communal and supportive setting. Students can also work towards their REHIS Food Hygiene award.
